Weekly Movie News 12-28-2011


Starting off with yet another big-time trailer debut, this one has the internet buzzing about how much 'Alien' we'll see in Ridley Scott's latest movie.

'The Artist' is now showing locally at the Harvard Exit Theater on Capitol Hill in Seattle and at the Lincoln Square Cinemas in Bellevue for a limited time.


Latest Movie News:
The Library of Congress has announced this year's selection of 25 movies to be entered in to the National Film Registry including classics and fan favorites like 'Forrest Gump', 'Bambi', and Stand and Deliver'.

Cineblend.com has an interesting article with J.J. Abrams discussing the possibilities of 3D and IMAX for the next installment of the Star trek series.

You may not recognize the faces in this photo, but that is director Steven Spielberg and composer John Williams working together on one of their many collaborations. In fact, Williams has written and composed the score for every feature film that Mr. Spielberg has made dating back to Jaws and up to their most recent films, 'War Horse' and 'The Adventures of Tintin'. This article by the Wall Street Journal talks about the career of Mr. Williams and discusses the current business climate of movie score composers.

Speaking of Steven Spielberg, moviefone.com has an interview with the director including topics ranging from his new movie 'The Adventures of Tintin' and the possibility of re-releasing 'Jurassic Park' in 3D.

Yes, we're still on the Steven Spielberg bandwagon for one more news article. SIFF Cinema at the Uptown is currently featuring a few really good films that you should not miss out on like 'War Horse', 'The Tree of Life', and 'Midnight in Paris'. Tickets can be purchased by clicking HERE.

Unfortunately, not all movie news is good movie news as this article tries to explain why the state Senate has shot down a bill that would have continued the 'Motion Picture Competitiveness Program' which offers incentives to movie studios and producers to make their films in Washington State.

Pacific Science Center's Eames IMAX Theater has a new look, new features and a new name. Thanks to the generous support from the PACCAR Foundation, the theater is now known as the PACCAR IMAX Theater. Here's the scoop on all the upgrades and renovations made to this 50 year old icon.
