TwoOhSix Picks for August


Want to know where the best movie events and screenings will be happening this month? Whether you are wanting to see big time blockbusters or small, independent films, you will want to check out this handy guide which features my picks for the best of what the Seattle area has to offer during the month of August.




"The Dark Knight Rises" will be playing every day through August 23rd and then you will have the opportunity to catch a special presentation of what promises to be a visually spectacular movie called "Samsara". CLICK HERE for more info from the Cinerama website.




Next up is the always awesome SIFF cinema's year round programming which utilizes both the Uptown Cinema and the SIFF Film Center both of which are located in the lower Queen Anne neighborhood.

  • "Klown": August 3rd - 9th
  • "Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai in 3D": Opens on August 10th

The Northwest Film Forum may just be Seattle's most underrated film art organization. Their August schedule has no shortage of screenings that will appeal to movies lovers of all types and here are the ones that caught my attention the most.

  • "The Graduate" 35 MM presentation: Through August 2nd
  • "Rare Films from the Baseball Hall of Fame" August 2nd
  • "Funny Ha Ha"  10th Anniversary! August 7th & 8th
    • Actor Miles Paige in attendance!
  • "I Am Bruce Lee": August 9th only!

Seattle Center is featuring an outdoor summer movie series called "Movies at the Mural" and during the month of August, they will be screening the entire Harry Potter series of films.

Central Cinema always has a great selection of unique and fun movies from sing-a-longs to classics that you would never otherwise get to see in a movie theater. Here are the ones you don't want to miss out on.

The Egyptian Theatre on Capitol Hill is well known for its Midnight Madness series and August has no shortage of great options.
