TwoOhSix at the 2013 Seattle International Film Festival

Our coverage of the 2013 Seattle International Film Festival will be even more in depth than ever before with more reviews, news, and other updates about the world's most attended film festival. We already gave you a sneak peak at what you can expect this year and now its time to go a little deeper into the lineup of films so sit down, buckle up, and get ready to learn about what TwoOhSix.com has selected as our top picks for the movies and events you will not want to miss out on.

One of my favorite things about SIFF is the sheer volume and variety of films that are screened which gives you an opportunity to make the festival exactly what you want it to be. Whether you are into foreign films, documentaries, science fiction, major studio releases, or you are the type of person who will watch anything, SIFF has a great selection of over 400 movies for you to choose from.

The first thing I do when the schedule is released is sit down and take a quick look at every single movie available. Before you know it, a list begins to take shape and then the process of narrowing down all the great options begins. It seems like every year I end up watching more and more movies and this year is no exception.

After cross referencing each movie with my own personal schedule and availability, I still ended up with 32 different films to watch! To help keep track of it all, I built a spreadsheet on my laptop with all the dates and times and I also created my first ever Pinterest board with each of the movies on my schedule. The board contains links to the corresponding SIFF pages for each movie where you can check out the trailer and even buy tickets if you want to go to the same screening that I'll be at!

So, out of all those movies, you might be wondering which ones are the ones I'm looking forward to most. Of course, I'm excited to see all of them, but there are a few that stand out above the pack so I decided to give you my top five most anticipated movies from this year's festival.

Byzantium is a gothic thriller featuring a mother and daughter vampire duo played by Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan. Academy Award winning Director Neil Jordan is familiar with the genre having been behind the lense for Interview with a Vampire so this should be a very intense thriller featuring two of Hollywood's rising stars.

If you love scary movies, then the V/H/S series better be on your radar. The first installment of the franchise was a Midnight Madness feature at last year's festival so of course the sequel had to make the cut this time around. The concept is very cool as the movie features a collection of short films all tied together by one overarching storyline. If V/H/S 2 is anywhere near as good as the first one, then you are in for one wild ride.

All the Boys Love Mandy Lane is a horror classic that has been sitting on the shelf since 2006, but now that director Jonathan Levine has had some recent success with 50/50 and the popular Warm Bodies, it is finally time for this cult phenomenon to see the light of day.

Amber Heard plays the title role of 16 year old Mandy Lane who is the object of just about every one of her male classmates' affections, but she has so far been able to keep them all at bay. When her friend Chloe invites her to join up with a group of friends to party out in a secluded ranch, she has no idea what they have in store for her.

By the end of the year, The Way, Way Back will be recognized as one of the better comedies to be released this year. Before all the hype kicks in, you will have a chance to see this movie at SIFF and then, months later, you can tell all your friends you saw it first.

After hitting it big with The Descendants, Oscar winning duo, Nat Faxon and Jim Rash have combined forces yet again to give us their take on the classic coming of age tale with a cast that includes Steve Carell, Toni Collette, and Sam Rockwell.  Its easy to see why this will end up being a big hit both with the festival audience and in wide release.

I'm throwing this one in just because it looks really cool and I love a good martial arts action movie. Director Andrew Lau has had a long and successful career winning many awards. Basically, The Guillotines is a period piece with all of the standard dynasties and power struggles, love triangles and family honor at stake. Inevitably, opposing forces clash and the punches, kicks, and weapons start flying. Do you really need any more reason to want to see this movie?

There you have it folks, the official TwoOhSix.com schedule and highlights for the 2013 Seattle International Film Festival.

Thanks for checking it out and hopefully we'll see you at the festival!
