Europa Report - Movie Review
In the very near future, there will be privately funded space exploration. Europa Report, which features Michael Nyqvist, Sharlto Copley, Daniel Wu, and Anamaria Marinca, gives us a first hand look at what one of these missions might look like although we may not be too happy with the results. Sebastián Cordero brings to life a screenplay written by Philip Gelatt using a new twist on the found footage technique.

Fruitvale Station - Movie Review
If you pay attention to the news at all, you know the story of Oscar Grant who was killed by an Oakland transit police officer on New Year's Eve. Protesting and riots ensue over what appeared to be a gross act of misconduct that was all caught on video. Fruitvale Station, written and directed by Ryan Coogler, is the story of that young man during the 24 hours leading up to a moment in time that will live in infamy forever.

Movie Releases for July 19th

R.I.P.D. - Movie Review
R.I.P.D. is another entry into the world of comic book adaptations although the source material from Dark Horse Comics is not as widely known as its Marvel or DC counterparts. Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Mary-Louise Parker, and Kevin Bacon have all been in comic book movies before, but never in anything quite like this otherworldly tale of paranormal police officers who set out to protect the planet from things that do much more than just go bump in the night.

Sure enough, Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, and Helen Mirren all are back for Red 2 along with Anthony Hopkins, Byung-hun Lee, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Pacific Rim - Movie Review
Since the first time I saw the very first trailer for Pacific Rim, I have been waiting not so patiently for its arrival. Seriously, this is giant robots fighting giant alien monsters in a movie directed by Guillermo del Toro and I had no doubt in my mind this would be nothing less than a glorious display of 3D awesomeness. Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman, Charlie Day, and Rinko Kikuchi are also in the movie because I guess there needs to be some people in it, too.
