Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Movie Review

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is an iconic comic book franchise that rose to prominence in the 80's thanks to cartoons, toys, and movies and now, the "Heroes in a Half Shell" are back in a rebooted adventure that re-imagines and reinvigorates this classic kid friendly adventure. Megan Fox, Will Arnett, William Fichtner, and Whoopi Goldberg star in the movie which was directed by Jonathan Liebesman.

If you don't already know the story, the four teenage turtles in question were genetically modified by a chemical substance 'and they all grew up to be really bad ass marital arts masters who love pizza. This movie alters the origin and moves reporter April O'Neil (Fox) a little closer into the actual origin story and not someone who just comes in later on. The basic idea here is that the turtles, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael are pretty much ready to venture out into the world conveniently at a time when they are really needed as the mysterious Foot Clan is preparing to take over the city in an attempt to wipe out the entire population.

One thing to keep in mind is that this is a kids movie so treat it as such. There are no subtle nuances of plot development and, as far as the quality of acting is concerned, I present to you: Megan Fox. While she is still one of the most beautiful women on the planet (imho), there isn't much else going on when it comes to delivering lines and creating any sort of noteworthy performance although, just like the rest of the movie, I wasn't really concerned about it. She looks great, the movie looks great, the special effects look great, and there are a couple action sequences that are actually pretty impressive.

While Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles won't be winning any type of film making awards, it will however entertain audiences, will rake in a decent amount of cash at the box office, and definitely falls into the category of movie where you go to the theater, grab the biggest bucket of popcorn you can find, and then just kick back and enjoy the show. I'll be honest with you, I was expecting to not like this movie but, when it was over, I was actually glad I took the time to see Megan Fox...I mean, the movie.

Another Megan Fox photo...because I can!
