2015 GeekGirlCon Saturday Recap

Once again, the fine folks and organizers of the GeekGirlCon event have put on another amazing show. While it is much smaller in scale than Emerald City Comicon or PAX, it still gives you the same feelings of fellowship and fun without all the crazy long lines and crowded hallways. I have now had the pleasure of covering the event for three years and it just keeps getting better and better.

Out of any convention I have been to, I would have to say this one if the most kid friendly and accommodating of just about personal need or wish you could ever think of. As soon as you walk through the doors of the convention center, you just feel welcome and you won't find anyone not having a good time. One of the highlights is the impressive variety of vendors which is split into the Artist Alley and Exhibitor Hall areas.

There is also a full schedule of panels featuring celebrity guests discussing everything from how Star Wars has and will impact generations of women to the state of the local indie comic book scene. I was able to sit in on two panels, The Fangirls Awaken: The Women of Star Wars (moderated by author and blogger Tricia Barr) and Women in Indie, Geeky Film, both of which were very informative and a lot of fun.

Of course, there were plenty of photo opportunities with so many people dressed up as their favorite characters. it was great to see all of the Agent Carters and Black Widows mingling with Disney Princesses and video game characters. There was even a costume contest although the photos I took didn't turn out very well so not able to share them with you. You can however check out the photos that did turn out as they are posted on my TwoOhSix.com Facebook page and, while you're there, go ahead and like the page so you can stay up to date on everything I have going on like movie trailers, film festivals, and other fun stuff.

Just a few highlights of my Saturday adventures at GeekGirlCon.

I even got to say Hello to a very famous Kitty.
