2016 Emerald City Comicon: Day Four - ECCC Coverage

The final day of the Emerald City Comicon is always a mixed bag of emotions as attendees are tired, excited, happy to be there, and sad that it's almost over, all at the same time. For me, this was a day to get photos, talk to vendors, and make a few purchases before the doors closed and another year of fun would come to an end.

Since I did not attend any panels, I will instead share with you the loot I collected as well as a few of the cosplay photos I took over the course of the day.

Items I purchased:
  • Kylo Ren print signed by artist John Giang of Orbital Harvest
  • Darth Vader print signed by artist John Giang of Orbital Harvest
  • Variant Vader Down #1 and variant Poe Dameron #1
  • Variant Power Man and Iron Fist - signed by artist Sanford Greene and writer David Walker
  • Power Man and Iron Fist print signed by artist Sanford Greene and writer David Walker
The mini Dark Horse comics you see in the image were given out during the Dark Horse panel which took place on Friday. You can also see my press badge and the Emerald City Comicon program in the image. Not a bad collection of stuff although I am pretty excited about all the cosplay photos I was able to take on Sunday as well. Check out the examples below.

I also had the opportunity to speak with a few of the vendors including John Giang who I purchased the Ren and Vader prints from, artist and author Faith Erin Hicks, and the Jayme Twins each of whom were in my TwoOhSix Artist and Exhibitor Picks post for this year.

Artist John Giang of Oribital Harvest
John Giang has been coming to ECCC for a few years now and he has quickly become one of my favorite artists and he's just a really cool guy. His work is so detailed and he has such an amazing visual style that is so unique compared to anyone else out there. John has produced concept art for a number of major feature films including The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Pacific Rim, Star Trek, and Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Eisner Award Winning artist Faith Erin Hicks
The Eisner Award-winning graphic novelist recently debuted her new graphic novel, The Nameless City, and sold out all 50 copies that she had brought to the convention! Faith was featured on several panels about craft, young adult comics, and strong female characters and also participated in the "Dark Horse Comics and Twentieth Century Fox: A Relationship Spanning Universes" panel which I covered in my "Day Two" ECCC post.

Artists and film makers Jemely and Jeremy Jayme
One of the highlights of Jemely and Jeremy Jayme's selection of available artwork is a collection called "The Darkroom Series" which features a very unique look at the classic and iconic Wonder Woman character and they were also showing off a sneak peak at a couple new entries into the series featuring both Harry Potter and Indiana Jones! Another big hit during the convention was tote bag they had made especially for the weekend which featured a choice of either Rey or Wonder Woman artwork. As you can imagine, these bags were selling like crazy and became a huge hit!

That about wraps it up for my "Day Four" post. Watch for my 2016 Emerald City Comicon wrap up post which will feature my thoughts on the event as a whole and a special video which may or may not include some singing by the lovely lady pictured below.
