Lives with Flavor / Vidas con Sabor (SIFF 2017) - Documentary Review

The Movie: Lives with Flavor / Vidas con Sabor

The Director: Pablo Gasca Gollas

The Story: World renowned Mexican Chef Ricardo Muñoz Zurita takes us on a mouthwatering experience to discover the origins and struggles of Mexican cuisine to become one of the most important cuisines in the world.

The Review:
Whatever you do, do not watch this movie on an empty stomach. The culinary imagery throughout this film will have your tummy growling and your taste buds salivating for any type of Mexican food you can get your hands on. Director Pablo Gasca Gollas goes to great lengths in bringing Chef Zurita's dishes to life in the same vibrant and delicious manner that the man himself lives his life. Both are steeped in the rich traditions and history that come from every corner of Mexico's diverse food culture and the man himself is doing everything he can to preserve every recipe and cooking technique he can find.

The Verdict:
Lives with Flavor is a beautiful, entertaining, and informative exploration of Mexico's food culture, and the importance of preserving its traditions, as seen through the eyes of one of its greatest chefs.

Lives with Flavor is an official selection of the 2017 Seattle International Film Festival.
