The Review:
To be honest with you, this movie really didn't interest me at all so it was at a bit of a disadvantage before I even sat down to watch. From the trailer, it just felt like a goofy, redneck version of the Oceans series which Soderbergh also directed and, while it does have some similarities, the story really does stand on its own. While there is a lot of comedy, it never goes too far and I really liked the focus on family which plays out in several different ways. On the down side, there are a couple random story lines and side bars that come out of left field and all of a sudden seem way more important than they needed to be, prime example being Sebastian Stan's (Captain America: Civil War) Nascar driver.
The Verdict:
Logan Lucky is a solid film that is a little too quirky for its own good, but still manages to entertain from beginning to end. Soderbergh, as usual, delivers a healthy dose of fun although not enough to make for a very memorable experience. I would recommend this as a good rental or streaming option.
