The Review:
If you liked the first movie this is basically more of the same. Ryan Reynolds continues to be spot on perfect as Deadpool and he should continue this role for many years to come. While the first movie established who Deadpool is, this one is sort of an origin story for X-Force, a team of mutants that Deadpool has been affiliated with over the years in Marvel comics. This allows for more character interaction and a better variety of personalities rather than relying on constant shtick from the main man himself.
It's interesting to see Josh Brolin as Cable so soon after his brilliant work as Thanos is Avengers: Infinity War and you can expect Deadpool to have some fun with this as well. One of the running themes of this franchise is how Deadpool is fully aware that he is in a movie so there are tons of pop culture references as well as references and jokes about other comic book movie super heroes. Seriously, no one is safe and these are often the best jokes of the movie. There are also plenty of surprises, cameos, and surprise cameos that keep you wondering what might happen next or who might show up around a corner.
The Verdict:
Deadpool 2 is a lot of fun and moves the franchise forward in a very smart way. If you re a fan of the character, you will love this movie. If your sense of humor is on par with a middle school aged boy, you will love this movie. If you like things that are hip and trendy, you will love this movie.
