TwoOhSix Picks - 2018 Tacoma Film Festival

After missing out on last year's festivities, the TwoOhSix is finally heading back to the 253 to give you the 411 on the 2018 Tacoma Film Festival. This eight day extravaganza runs from October 4th through the 11th and includes so many feature films, short films, special events, and industry workshops, I'm amazed at how much there is to see and do. Check out my "TwoOhSix Picks" which includes eight movies and one special event.

Khalik Allah's latest effort was  an absolute crowd pleaser at the North Bend film festival although I missed out on my chance to see it there. Glad to have another opportunity during TFF!

I'm betting on this documentary being a powerful story of hope, redemption, and righting wrongs of the past and I'm sure there will be lots of emotions.

This might be my pick for most interesting film that I haven't seen yet so anticipation is high.

This documentary about one of America's preeminent photographers was a special jury award winner at this year's SXSW film festival so it must be good. If nothing else, it looks fantastic thanks to the never ending collection of Winogrand's photographs.

This award winning, locally made science fiction film has been playing at festivals all across the country and will be the opening night feature film for this year's festival. (Full Review)

Are you ready for this movie? It's really weird and oddly captivating. I saw it recently at the North Bend Film Festival and I'm still trying to figure out what I saw. I think that's meant as a compliment.

After wowing audiences at SIFF, local film maker Megan Griffiths is ready to take on Tacoma. The movie was shot in Everett so watch for locations you might recognize!

The idea of learning about these places where seeds are stored for safe keeping is intriguing enough for me but we also get a special presentation from Carrie L. Woods as part of the festival's Science on Screen series.

These fine folks are the best at what they do so don't miss out on an opportunity to learn a little something about the business and marketing side of making movies. This event is free and open to the public and will be held at the Tacoma Arts Community Center.
