The Review:
Well, this was a fun bit of bloody, hedonistic horror comedy. Yes, people eat other people but not in a savage way like you might see in a movie like The Green Inferno but in a more civilized and prepared sort of way, if that's a thing. This is more about the social elite in a third world country and how they fare under conditions they control and manipulate for their own pleasure and self indulgence.
There is, of course, plenty of bloodshed as people get shot, punched, hacked, chopped, and mutilated in various ways from instruments of destruction like shot guns, axes, pistols, table saws, spiked baseball bats and of course chef's knives. With all of this going on, there also has to be a story right? Well, kind of. As mentioned in the description, Otavio and Gilda find themselves in a bit of behind the scenes political trouble and must find a way to escape with their lives. While this is going down, there is a lot of blood, a lot of sex, and some people eating people thrown in because this movie is about a group of people who dine on other people.
The film is relatively short clocking in at just over an hour and twenty minutes which keeps things fairly simple and straight forward without a lot of story to mess up the gory fun parts that you're obviously looking for if you have sat down to watch a horror comedy called The Cannibal Club.
