The Movie: I Trapped the Devil
The Director: Josh Lobo

The Review:
If you like your horror movies super creepy and crazy intense then Josh Lobo's feature debut as both writer and director is definitely one you want to check out. Right from the very beginning, he sets a very dark and unnerving tone that is very claustrophobic yet extremely fascinating. The juxtaposition of holiday decorations alongside a dreary, cluttered house makes it even more creepy because what should normally represent happiness ends up having the opposite effect.
This is one of those movies where you don't see the type of physical villain that you usually find hunting people down, it's more of a psychological manifestation of evil which, in this movie especially, is even worse because of how it all plays out. Watching the three family members descend into the darkness was a very scary journey, not because there were contrived jump scares, but because you realize how inevitable their fall was going to be.
I Trapped the Devil twists and turns the notions of good and evil as well as good versus evil and leaves you totally creeped out in the process. This is by no means one of those battles against religion with crosses and holy water being flung all over the place types of movies, it's more of a get inside your head and give you nightmares type of film.
