Yes, I am excited to be back for the second annual North Bend Film Festival, an event that focuses on films that are different, unique, and strange. Read on to see which festival selection have been chosen to be this year's TwoOhSix Picks, the films you do not want to miss.
Inspired by the works of David Lynch and located in the heart of the town where he created Twin Peaks, The festival organizers strive to create something different for genre fans and opportunities for the local and national film communities. While I will be focusing on feature films, the festival also includes a couple of short film blocks, some VR presentations, and several other events you will definitely want to check out.
The Incredible Shrinking Wknd
Opening Night Film, US Premiere
Directed by Jon Mikel Caballero
An intense and intriguing fantasy that never feels repetitive or derivative and features one of the more interesting female lead performances I have seen in some time. (Full Review)
Feral
West Coast Premiere
Directed by Andrew Wonder
This looks like a highly original piece of film making that is hard to put in a box or category. Beneath the flashy exterior, I get the feeling there is some really deep and emotional stuff going on and I can't wait to see it.
Knives and Skin
Centerpiece Film, Pacific Northwest Premiere
Directed by Jennifer Reeder
I missed out on this one during Fantasia so I was really happy to see it pop up on this festival's schedule of films. Jennifer Reeder's Signature Move was a big hit in 2018 at film festival's around the world including the Seattle Asian American Film Festival so I am definitely looking forward to what she has in store for audiences this time around.
Monument
Pacific Northwest Premiere
Directed by Jagoda Szelc
I have seen this movie described as a disturbing, moody, and stylized psychological thriller. Yup, I'm in!
Villains
Pacific Northwest Premiere
Directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olson
This movie was a hit at this year's SXSW film festival and might just be the film I am looking forward to the most mainly due to the impressive cast which includes Bill Skarsgård, Maika Monroe, Jeffrey Donovan, and Kyra Sedgwick. If you're in to dark and twisted comedies then this is the movie you have been waiting for.
