The Review:
This movie is probably better than you think it's going to be. I had a lot of fun watching it, there's lot of good action and the ladies are definitely in charge this time around. Elizabeth Banks is one of the more prolific film makers in Hollywood these days and, with this movie, she takes on the titles of director, writer, actress, and producer. Her style is very female forward which is great when you can put together a trio as talented as Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinski.
If you still see Kristen Stewart as that girl with no personality from the Twilight movies, it's time to get over it because in this movie she absolutely rocks with a super stylish and sexy vibe that she accentuates with an unexpectedly unfiltered humor. Naomi Scott steps up her leading lady status after appearances in Aladdin and Power Rangers and Ella Balinska is an absolute revelation combining a bad ass attitude that would rival any other action hero out there with a slight nerdy and awkward personality that adds even more layers of likability.
Charlie's Angels is a decidedly refreshing twist to a franchise we have followed for decades and features a really fun cast of characters. Filled with impressive action sequences, the story is fairly predictable but gets the job done and allows the ladies to shine both individually and as a team.
