This is now my fifth year covering the Hawaii International Film Festival and I am so excited for this year's lineup of films, I wasn't sure how I was going to narrow it down for my TwoOhSix Picks selections. - Documentary about women in the sake industry.
- Masquerade Hotel
- Takuya Kimura and Masami Nagasawa in mystery from Japan.
- Mina-Anud
- Drug fueled comedy from the Philippines. All the lol's.
- Nina Wu
- Intense thriller, reminds me of Black Swan.
- The Perfect Candidate
- HIFF Spotlight Filmmaker, director Haifaa Al-Mansour.
- The Prisoner of Sakura
- Historical drama set around the Russo-Japanese War.
- Signal 100
- Japanese horror from director Lisa Takeba.
- Talking the Pictures
- Period picture from acclaimed director acclaimed Masayuki Suo.
- Vortex
- Neo-noir crime thriller from China.
- Weathering with You
- Closing Night film from the creator of Your Name.
- Yellow Rose
- Eva Noblezada stars in music drama.
What I've Watched. I have had the good fortune to see these movies prior to them being screened during this festival. They are all really good.
Premieres, Big Names, and Blockbusters. If these major studio releases aren't already out, you'll see them in theaters soon enough. Each one features a high caliber roster of talent both in front of and behind the camera.
