The Review:
This story here is pretty basic slasher stuff as far as horror movies go although it does include a pretty heavy dose of well deserved man bashing in the face of "Me too" era sensibilities. Yes, this is a remake of a cult classic 1974 slasher film which I have never seen so I honestly don't know how much of the story is carried over although I'm guessing a fair amount of changes were made to bring everything up to modern day life. I have always been a fan of Imogen Poots and she pretty much carries this movie from start to finish. In a film filled with generic characters across the board, she rises above the rest and turns in a really fun and engaging performance.
I don't have much else to say about Black Christmas. It's kind of fun and reasonably entertaining, it just doesn't do much to stand out within a crowded horror movie genre that is churning out more movies than ever before.
