TwoOhSix Picks - Streaming on Shudder

Shudder is a streaming service that focuses on thrillers, suspense, fantasy, and horror films, most of which are smaller indie productions, cult classics, and festival favorites. Right now, they are offering a one month free trial so I have decided to create a list of my favorite films to keep you busy once you sign up. Because why wouldn't you sign up to watch awesome movies free for a whole month?

Bliss - Directed by Joe Begos
Bliss is the drug induced vampire art project you've been waiting for. Highly stylized and filled with rage, this movie will take you on a heavy metal soundtracked highway to hell. (Full Review)

Blue My Mind - Directed by Lisa Brühlmann
Blue My Mind is a movie you can't take your eyes off of and is a story you won't soon forget. Perfectly executed on all fronts by first time feature director Lisa Brühlmann and capped off by a stellar performance from Luna Wedler. (Full Review)

Cheap Thrills - Directed by E.L. Katz
First time director E.L. Katz absolutely knocks this one out of the park and, while the subject matter may not be for everyone, those looking for a roller coaster ride filled with shock and awe will not be disappointed in any way. (Full Review)

Deathgasm - Directed by Jason Lei Holden
If you grew up in the 80's, there is a ton of stuff to love about this film and especially if you are a fan of that era's heavy metal culture and imagery. For fans of 80's horror films and creature features, this movie gets just about everything right. (Full Review)

Luz - Directed by Tilman Singer
If you like your horror movies extra moody, super creepy, and downright scary then Luz is the film for you. When I say that it's a scary movie, I don't mean jump scares and cheap tricks, I mean there's an uneasiness that gets under your skin and stays there long after the movie is over. (Full Review)

One Cut of the Dead - Directed by Shin'ichirô Ueda
One Cut of the Dead is everything I love about watching movies. No joke, I had tears of joy from watching this film. Congratulations to Shin'ichirô Ueda and everyone involved in creating a game changing and genre bending experience. (Full Review)

Revenge - Directed by Coralie Fargeat
Revenge is a gratuitously rewarding thrill ride and a triumphant debut feature for Coralie Fargeat. The movie is jam packed with that classic grindhouse magic and every bit of it is executed perfectly from start to finish. (Full Review)

Southbound - Directed by Radio Silence, Roxanne Benjamin, David Bruckner, and Patrick Horvath
This movie is a collection of five interconnected short films, each with a very unique story that takes you further down a proverbial rabbit hole of horrifying happenings. Each story sends travelers through a mysterious stretch of desert highway where nightmares seemingly to come to life leaving a path of destruction that leaves no one untouched. (Full Review)

Tigers are Not Afraid - Directed by Issa López
Being a dark and creepy fantasy tale, there are immediate comparisons to Guillermo Del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth, one of my all time favorite movies, but it also very much stands on it's own as it has a more grounded in reality feel to it. (Full Review)

Train to Busan directed by Yuen Sang-ho
This film is thoroughly entertaining and filled with some really great action sequences and fight scenes that are above and beyond what I was expecting. Director Yuen Sang-ho has done a great job of creating the type of big budget spectacle that rivals anything Hollywood is currently putting out and yet it is so much more than just a collection of explosions and special effects. (Full Review)
