All In: The Fight for Democracy - Documentary Review

The Documentary: All In: The Fight for Democracy

The Directors: Lisa Cortes and Liz Garbus

The Story: The documentary takes a look at the history, and current activism against voter suppression; barriers to voting that most people don't even know is a threat to their basic rights as citizens of the United States.

The Review:
In this country, people have had to campaign and protest and fight and die for the right to vote. Let that sink in for a moment. One of the most basic rights of a citizen, of a human being, and something that had already been written into the constitution and there was still so much resistance from those in power to simply let it exist. In what is supposed to be a free and democratic country.

There are so many angles to the systemic racism that has plagues America since its inception and the right to vote may be the most important which is also why those in power do everything they can to keep as many people disenfranchised as they can. The less people are given a chance to allow their voice to be heard, the more likely they powers that be are able to keep their positions of power.

Stacey Abrams has done so much for voting rights and to expose the efforts being made to suppress voters and their ability to create change and this documentary does a great job of telling her story. Her voice and her story is one of many we see and learn about in this film along with an eye opening history lesson on just how voting rights have evolved over the years.

Register to vote. Confirm you registration is current and valid. Prepare for when and how and where you are going to vote. All of these are important steps to working against voter suppression and making sure that your voice gets heard.
