The Review:
Many many year ago during one of the many lifetimes I have lived, there was a time when I managed a Camelot Music store in Seattle. One day, we had a district meeting for the Seattle area managers at the offices of BMG Records and while we were there one of the BMG staff had told us about this new artist they were going to be debuting soon and that person happened to be in the building. They were hoping to set up a quick meet and greet for us but for whatever reason it didn't work out. We found out later that young singer was P!nk, a recording artist who would have a smash hit debut and would go on to have an amazing career with a fan base as loyal and dedicated as any out there.
While it would have been nice to meet the world renowned superstar right before her career took off, it's still a fun story and now writing this review has given me a chance to tell it again. I have always been a fan of her music but never followed her career outside of enjoying the songs that would come up on radio and video channels so this documentary was a great way to get to know the person behind the persona and the human being behind the unstoppable rock star. Director Michael Gracey does a great job of being a fly on the wall during intimate moments and then transitioning to some truly epic concert footage and he lets P!nk and her family just exist as the story.
"I don't want to ever miss a beautiful day just because the last one hurt." - P!nk
I have always understood that P!nk isn't anywhere near your average pop star status when it comes to her music, her personality, and the things she takes a stand for and all of that is on full display in this documentary. Seeing her interact with her kids, her husband, her team, and her fans was a real treat as it quickly becomes obvious how much she cares for people and they are the reason she does what she does. Fans of P!nk are going to love this documentary is it will most likely reinforce everything they already know about their favorite singer and people not as familiar with her, like myself, will enjoy becoming one of those more die hard fans.
The Verdict:
P!nk: All I Know So Far is a beautifully filmed look into the life and and career of one of the world's biggest and most beloved rock stars. All I know is this is a documentary you want to watch.
