The Movie: Spider-Man: No Way Home

The Story: With Spider-Man's identity now revealed, Peter asks Doctor Strange for help. When a spell goes wrong, dangerous foes from other worlds start to appear, forcing Peter to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.

The Review:
How do I write a review for a movie that has so many surprises and reveals as this movie does? There is so much speculation out there about who may or may not be in the movie and different things that may or may not happen and I will not be discussing any of that here in this review so feel free to safely continue reading.

With that out of the way, the first thing I will say is that I absolutely loved this movie and can't wait to watch it again. So much care and effort went into making a complete story that pushes forward Peter Parker's story and there is a true progression and culmination from Homecoming to Far From Home to this movie and every bit of it works. Of course this movie also fits into the overall MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) narrative and, as you can imagine, Doctor Strange's appearance and story arc will lead directly to his own sequel movie, Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness.

As with any Marvel movie, the action is epic in scale, high flying, and involves equal amounts of magic, science, and heroism with lots of CGI added in because, I mean, you kind of have to with comic book movies. Director Jon Watts has done a fantastic job with this entire trilogy while raising the stakes to where Peter is tested in just about every way possible. The young web head experiences a lot in this movie dealing with villains, family, friendships, what it means to be a super hero, and of course his relationship with MJ who is once again brought to life brilliantly by the one and only Zendaya.

Also returning to their roles are Jacob Batalon as trusty friend and "the guy in the chair" Ned Leeds, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Marisa Tomei as Peter's aunt May Parker, Benedict Wong as Wong, and of course Benedict Cumberbatch as the master of the mystic arts (or is he?) Doctor Stephen Strange. Each of them continues the roles they have established in previous Marvel films while also moving them forward in the same way that Tom Holland has evolved his own version of the friendly neighborhood web head. I especially enjoyed the interactions between Holland and Zendaya as their relationship has matured (both on and off screen) and it is becoming more and more apparent that these two actors are destined to be major superstars for years to come.

There are so many authentically emotional moments crammed into all the action and super hero hi-jinks and I'm not afraid to say that I had a few tears welling up at a few different points of the movie. Again without going into detail, every single layer of story and every single arc has meaning and purpose and it's all woven together in such a beautiful way. The last thing I will say is that this movie will fit easily and comfortably into my top ten favorite MCU movies. I need to give it another look to see exactly where, but it will be up there.

The Verdict:
Spider-Man: No Way Home brings the trilogy home with an intricate web of "No Way!" moments all woven together to find Peter in his strangest and stickiest situation yet. The MCU continues to expand its multiverse in a meaningful way as it leads to the upcoming madness and mania promised in future installments while still giving audiences an emotionally rewarding and web filled experience.
