Here its is, the list you've been waiting for. TheTwoOhSix Top Ten Favorite Movies of 2022. In a year that I wasn't able to watch as many movies as I have in the past, there were still several that stood out from the rest and below, you will find my absolute favorites.
- Everything, Everywhere, All at Once
- Everything Everywhere All At Once is everything I was hoping it would be and so much more. This might be the wildest, craziest, and most ambitious movie you will watch this year and all of it works. Full Review
- Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
- I honestly don't know if this could have been a better cinematic experience. It's a fitting tribute to Boseman that honors both the man and the character he portrayed and it is a cathartic experience for all of us both in the context of our relationship with the Marvel Cinematic Universe and in the context of what we have collectively dealt with as human beings over the last couple years. Full Review
- Emergency
- Emergency is one of those movies that immediately grabs your attention and never lets go. The story is engaging and thought provoking, the characters are authentic and relatable, and the messaging is about as timely as it gets even as it deals with issues that have always been there. Full Review
- Avatar: The Way of Water
- This is the mega project we've been waiting over a decade for and the spectacle of it is everything you could ever want it to be and more. The cinematic blockbuster has once again obtained its event status and don't you dare wait to watch this one at home. Full Review
- Breaking
- From the opening moments, there is a level of tension that intensifies, not because Easley is robbing a bank and holding hostages, but because you understand what got him to that point and how much danger he and the bank employees are in from the overly aggressive police and FBI presence surrounding the building. Full Review
- Cha Cha Real Smooth
- If there was an award for most likable movie this would absolutely win hands down, no contest, wrap it up and ship it out because there is no competition. Full Review
- The Woman King
- Viola Davis in in top form as the title character and director Gina Prince-Bythewood has put together an epic tale that may not be historically accurate but it definitely captures the powerful vibe and ethos that it's shooting for.
- Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness
- Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness is mostly a brilliant Sam Raimi movie while also checking off all the requisite MCU boxes and for me, almost none of that was a bad thing. Full Review
- Top Gun Maverick
- Top Gun Maverick is a high flying big screen spectacle that kicks in the after burners and never lets up. Tom Cruise once again proves that he is one of the greatest and most consistent movie stars of all time. Full Review
- Prey
- Prey continues the Predator franchise in a very unique and unexpected way by going back about 300 years and pitting one of the high tech alien hunters against the highly skilled warriors of the Comanche Nation. Big shout out to Amber Midthunder for turning in one of my favorite acting performances of the year.
