A Disturbance in the Force - 2023 SIFF Capsule Review

The Documentary: A Disturbance in the Force

The Directors: Jeremy Coon, Steve Kozak

The Story: Investigating the infamous The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978) with the behind-the-scenes story of how it got made.

Capsule Review:
Okay, so I've never actually watched the Star Wars Holiday Special although I see it's available on Youtube so I'll be checking it out soon enough even if everything about this documentary says I probably shouldn't. The following quote from actor Taran Killam seems like it defines how odd the holiday special really is: "Is this the same cantina?...This is the most dangerous place. Where arms are shot off, people are shot under tables, and occasionally Beatrice Arthur will break out into song." Any Star Wars fan should watch this documentaryas it's filled with so much nostalgia, even if you're like me and have never watched the holiday special.
