Capsule Review:
This movie is Sarah Kambe Holland's debut feature film and is adapted from the short film of the same name that was released in 2019. The story is an LGBTQ+ coming of age comedy that tackles all kinds relevenat of topics and it's amazing to see the level of authentic representation on display in this film. There is a lot of great comedy in the story and overall it's a very lighthearted tale, but I also found myself completely wrapped up in all the emotions as well. The entire movie is such a breath of fresh air filled with honestly entertaining performances and it will just make you feel good for having watched it.
At the core of the story is the relationship between the two title characters; Egghead, played by Louis Tomeo, and Twinkie, played by Sabrina Jie-A-Fa; who play off of each other brilliantly through the entire film. I honestly feel like Jie-A-Fa is a star in the making and I can't wait to see her in more movies as soon as possible. Tomeo is so funny and so genuine inside of his character's experience, I really felt what he was going through, maybe on a more personal level than I'd care to admit.
