The Review:
Okay, so this movie looks like an epic scale action movie with naval fleets doing battle in hopes of ending a war that has gone on far too long. I was hoping for high drama and thrilling fights, endless explosions, and mass destruction everywhere. What I got was something akin to one of those Youtube videos where a person programs a computer to run a simulated battle between two forces, cheap CGI, and cut scenes featuring lots of old dudes with really long beards posturing against each other and generally looking like they're even more ready than I was for the whole thing to be over.
The run time is about two and a half hours and I felt every moment of that bloated and redundant experience to the point where I had to shut it down and come back to it at a later time. Seriously, the movie just drones on in such a repetitive fashion, you could mix and match the scenes and you probably wouldn't know the difference. Also, the physics of how the massive fleets traveled was just odd with maneuvers that modern day warships would have trouble executing and all the boats had in this movie was maybe ten or twelve oars sticking out the sides providing all kinds of acceleration and steering ability.
It's kind of sad that this movie review features the debut of me providing ten scale rating to go with my thoughts but I was bound to run into a sinking ship sooner or later so might as well get it out of the way now. Welcome to 2024, it can only get better from here. I hope.
