The Review:
I have no idea why this movie is called Trigger Warning. I have no idea why this movie was made. After watching the movie, I'm stil not 100% sure I know what it's about. What I do know is that I have loved Jessica Alba since her breakout role in James Cameron's Dark Angel TV series and I'll watch pretty much anything she's in which is what has brought us to this very moment. Me typing and you reading.
The story is sort of a mix of John Wick, Rambo, and pretty much any other type of revenge story you can think of. Everything about the movie kind of works and is mildly entertaining but also none of it works and I was perfectly fine multi-tasking with the movie on in front of me because none of it was making me sit up and pay attention. All the fight scenes felt like everyone was safely going through the motions of choreography so I never felt the intensity or brutality that was intended.
If this movie has any kind of legs on Netflix, I wonder if it would be worth green lighting a sequel and really going for a much bigger, heavier hitting action adventure. Alba is actually pretty solid and she was really the least of my concerns with the production although, as I mentioned there is a clear bias there so who knows. Maybe this movie should just fade off into the desert and we can all pretend it never happened.
