Suicide Squad, directed by David Ayer, is the latest installment from the DC Comics Cinematic Universe and features a collection of super powered villains who are forced to work together by taking on missions that are doomed to fail. Trumbo - Movie Review

Trumbo, directed by Jay Roach (The Campaign), is an historical drama based off of a book written by Bruce Cook. The movie stars Bryan Cranston, Diane Lane, Helen Mirren, James DuMont, Alan Tudyk, Louis C.K., Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Elle Fanning, and John Goodman.

Concussion - Movie Review

Concussion, written and directed by Peter Landesman, is based off of a GQ article by Jeanne Marie Laskas called Brain Game. The film features acting performances by Will Smith, Albert Brooks, Alec Baldwin, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, David Morse, Arliss Howard, Mike O'Malley, Paul Reiser, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Luke Wilson.

Pompeii - Movie Review

Pompeii is a movie about the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, how it destroyed an entire city, and there's also a love story, too. This special effects showcase was directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and features Kit Harrington, Kiefer Sutherland, Emily Browning, Carrie-Anne Moss, Jared Harris, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.

Thor: The Dark World - Movie Review

 

The God of Thunder returns to save the day in Thor: The Dark World but an ancient evil may be too much for even the mightiest of warriors to handle on his own. Chris Hemsworth returns as the hammer wielding Avenger along with Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Kat Denning, Anthony Hopkins, and Stellan Skarsgård. Alan Taylor, best known for his work in Game of Thrones, takes over the director's chair from Kenneth Branagh who originally brought Thor to the big screen.

Bullet to the Head - Movie Review

The tag line in the poster for Bullet to the Head is "Revenge Never Gets Old", but it doesn't say anything about the actors themselves. Sylvester Stallone is definitely getting up there in age and, even with his musclebound physique firmly in place, you really get the idea that at least one dead horse took a beat down to get this movie made.

The Thing (1982 and 2011) - Movie Review Double Feature

 

This is a review of both the original 1982 film and the 2011 prequel since they are pretty much one story split in to two movies. The 1982 film features Kurt Russell in what, at the time, was one of the scariest and coolest sci-fi movies this side of Alien. The new release takes us back to the same snowy location and tells the story of what happened just prior to the events of the first movie. If I had ever watched the original, I don't remember it, so I took the opportunity to see it on Netflix's streaming service the night before I attended a screening of the new one.
