2017 Recap - The Performances
In 2017, I watched more movies than I ever have in a single year which means there are tons of actors and actresses I could choose from to make this list. The most important things to me in my decision making process was how memorable and how affecting the performances were. You may not have heard of some of the people or the movies they are in because they are from film festivals or limited releases so I am hoping u have a chance to see them at some point.

American Hustle - Movie Review
American Hustle, writer and director David O. Russell's latest feature film, tells the story of five people doing everything they can to get ahead during a time when being on top was more important than doing the right thing. This flashy period piece stars Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence, and Jeremy Renner.

Silver Linings Playbook - Movie Review
I've been waiting for both Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence to take on roles that would really allow them to show off their acting abilities since, up until now, we've mainly seen them in big time blockbuster movies playing the type of characters that don't really allow actors to go all in with their performances. While they have both done solid work to this point, I could always tell there was something more they both could give if they had the right characters to play. Silver Linings Playbook just happens to throw them both together into a story that is as oddly original as it is charmingly entertaining.

X-Men: First Class - Movie Review
With Matthew Vaughn taking over the X-Men franchise, people were wondering what to expect from the man most people only knew as the guy who had directed "Kick-Ass" which, to me is one of the best super her movies ever made. If nothing else, audience could be assured that this would be a whole new direction for the mutant anti-heroes.

The Hunger Games - Movie Review
"The World Will be Watching" is a very appropriate slogan for a movie that goes in to its release date with a huge built in fan base that has devoured a story originally presented over three best selling novels.
With high expectations firmly in place, the movie's success will depend on big box office numbers and that means recreating a story that will please both fans of the books and also those, like myself, that know virtually nothing about the story going in.

Like Crazy - Movie Review
A movie that is riding a wave of hype from the film festival circuit should certainly be something to get excited about and especially when the lead actors are all relative youngsters that appear to be on the fast track to stardom. Brought to the screen by up and coming director Drake Doremus, this picture focuses on the relationship of two students as they fall in love and try to overcome obstacles that are thrown their way and also ones they bring upon themselves. The question that we try to answer here ends up not being if they will succeed, but what that success ultimately means to each of their lives.
