G.I. Joe: Retaliation - Movie Review

After a less than successful debut, the Real American Heroes return to the big screen reloading with a bigger cast, more explosive special effects, and a story that sees the evil forces of Cobra looking to take over the world yet again. With the addition of The Rock, Bruce Willis, and Adrianne Palicki to the cast, director Jon M. Chu attempts to revitalize a potentially heroic action franchise with G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

Django Unchained - Movie Review

Following the outrageous success of his revenge fantasy, Inglourious Basterds, Quentin Tarantino now gives us another tale of redemption starring Jamie Foxx and Leonardo DiCaprio in Django Unchained. I will admit, I was a late comer to the Tarantino bandwagon compared to most other people that follow his work. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed Pulp Fiction the first time I saw it, but it wasn't until Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2 that I really became a fan of his unique way of creating movies that simultaneously honor cinema's rich history while pushing the boundaries of what is creatively possible.

Lincoln - Movie Review

In the hands of a director as highly regarded as Steven Spielberg, you know that a movie about the 16th President of the United States of America would be in more than capable hands. When you add the always amazing Daniel Day Lewis in the role of Mr. Lincoln to the equation, then you are bound to get something truly special.

Straw Dogs (2011) - Movie Review

First, let me just say that I have not seen the original version of this film from 1971 which stars Dustin Hoffman and Susan George so I am not able to offer any comparison between the two. That being said I still had a pretty good idea of how the movie would play out based on the trailer which can be viewed at the end of this review. This is a fairly straightforward tale that does have some interesting twists and turns, but could it live up to the promise of being the intensely violent thrill ride we see touched on in the trailer?
